The 7,000 DVD’s I Ordered…

So avid readers of this blog (and the one it replaced *sigh*) will know how much of an avid English reader I am.  Honestly, you can't keep me away from them!

Well I have some good news.  The 7,000 English DVDs I ordered from www.people-who-really-really-love-english-really.com has arrived!

Here's a tip for prank phone callers.  Don't make it really really obvious, really.  At least make it *sound* possible, up until you drop the big bomb.

Anywho, if the person who called me is who I hope it is, thanks, maybe we should do something tomorrow?  If it is who I think it is, stop calling me before I get my number changed. KTHXBAI

Campbell Watch 2008

Okay guys, it was the big race for our girl Cate, the 50m freestyle sprint.

I have some unfortunate news to report, she didn't win :'(

As sad as it sounds the teenager from Brisbane only took 3rd, finishing behind the American Torres (2nd) and Germany's Steffen (1st).

Well we're still behind you Cate!  There is always the 2012 London games!

Single of the Week: Freezepops – Swimming Pool

Here it is, your exclusive single of the week!

As far as I know this song hasn't been used in any movie or anything, but its a pretty sweet song.  I also had the *hardest* time tracking this song down, so guess what: it really is exclusive!

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Also, it is a HUGE (12 megabyte) file, so it might take awhile to buffer!

No big details on the artist, but don't try and rip the song (I've seen a few try before) as the DRM system in development will keep that from happening.

The big Two-Ohhhh

As of 12 August, 2008 I am no longer a teenager :(

I'm pretty mortified. There was so much random rebellious crap that I wanted to do but can't since I'm now an adult.  Well, I guess my childhood is just over, time to move on I suppose.

On an unrelated note: I have a sudden urge to straighten up and fly right, vote, scream "Get off my lawn" to children, and go to Denny's at 5am for their early bird special.

The Streak Continues!

Yesterday I got my acceptance letter to MCC... Yay?

No real big surprise there.  But, this only continues my streak of getting into every. single. university. I applied for!  And then some!

Unfortunately, with every school I apply for, my acceptance percentage goes down, I think its only at 115% now :(

Sad day indeed.

Incredible India Apparently

Just off my failed attempt to visit Stockton, California (people from Camp no more about this than my family... go figure) and my future attempt to visit Montreal, Quebec I have randomly decided to visit India.

Yup.  India.  Dunno why, but its more of a "why not" type of thing to me.  The difference between my trip to Cali and this adventure to India is that I'm not meeting anyone when I get there... SOMEONE IS COMING WITH ME!!!

Cassie from BYU-I has randomly decided to join me on this crazy - half thought - international joyride.  We have yet to set a date for our voyage and how two college kids are gunna afford a trip to India on our own dime is another story... But who cares! India!

This is pretty flippin awesome :D

Your (almost) Exclusive Single of the Day/Month/Year!

I'm proud to present: Paper Planes by M.I.A.

It is the song used in the trailers to the Pineapple Express movie about drugs and violence.  Surprisingly, this song (and the movie - trailers, at least) make me want to be something epic, which considering the context of both is rather strange.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

About the artist:

Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam (born on July 17, 1977 in Hounslow, London, England) is an acclaimed artist, film graduate and musician. She is the daughter of a Tamil revolutionary. She is best known by her stage name M.I.A. Her music style contains elements of grime, alternative, hip-hop, reggae, dance, and electronic music.

M.I.A. graduated from Central St. Martin's College of Art and Design with a degree in fine art, film and video. She has been noted for her idiosyncratic style in her music, her sense of fashion, and other artistic output.

In 2000, she did the cover artwork for the album The Menace, by Elastica and directed the music video for their single "Mad Dog God Dam." She filmed a North American tour of the band. In 2002, she published a book of art inspired by the Tamil rebellion and her childhood in Sri Lanka. She met the musician Peaches who introduced M.I.A. to the Roland MC 505. M.I.A. wrote and recorded several songs on a demo using a 505, including the song "Galang."
