Mad Props from the State

At the parent meeting for the LifeSmarts trip I got this from the state senate: (yeah, the whole team did)

CONGRATULATION the Pittsford Sutherland High School LifeSmarts Team upon the occasion of catpuring the Statewide LifeSmarts Competition Finals

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and pay tribute to thoses young people who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State by achieving outstanding success in educational competition; and

WHEREAS, Educational competitions which serve to better prepare out students for their future are worthy of praise and support; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the Pittsford Sutherland High School LifeSmarts Team upon the occasion of capturing the Statewide LifeSmarts Competition Finals in Albany, New York, on March 2, 2005; and

WHEREAS, In the LifeSmarts program, teams of students across New York State participate in an online competition hosted at the New York State Consumer Protection Board website, with nine teams advancing to the New York State Finals competition; and

WHEREAS, LifeSmarts is an exciting, educational, and entertaining consumer education program that helps students in grades 9 through 12 become more informed about consumer issues and better prepared to participate as consumers in today's economy; and

WHEREAS, LifeSmarts offers students an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of real-life marketplace issues in five key areas: personal finance, health and safety, environment, technology, and consumer rights and responsibiilities; and

WHEREAS, The Pittsford Sutherland High School LifeSmarts Team members, coached by Eric Jordan and captained by Jackie Blum, were: Anna Iuppa, Kyle Mehalek, Eric Mann, and Greg Vernon; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, these scholars now stand honorably, with just pride in thir accomplishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided by their teachers, coaches and parents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate the Pittsford Sutherland High School LifeSmarts Team upon the occasion of capturing the Statewide LifeSmarts Competition Finals, and offer them best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Eric Jordan and the Pittsford Sutherland High School LifeSmarts Team.
